Privacy policy

The short version

We collect nothing. Forja has no server of its own: everything you log lives on your device, and if you turn on iCloud it travels to your own iCloud account, which we cannot access. No ads, no trackers, and no data to sell because none reaches us.

What is stored on your device

Your profile: age, sex, height, weight, goals, equipment and preferences.
Your workout history, your measurements and your favourites.

All of it lives in the app's private storage, encrypted by the device itself, and disappears if you delete the app.

iCloud

So your progress can move from an iPhone to an iPad, Forja keeps a copy in the private CloudKit database, which is part of your iCloud account. Apple holds that copy under your account: Forja's developer cannot read it or list it. If you don't have iCloud enabled, nothing is synced and the app works just the same on your device.

It is optional and only lets the app greet you by name. We receive the identifier Apple generates and, if you choose to share it, your email address. They are kept in your device's keychain and are not sent anywhere. You can use the whole app without signing in.

Health

If you grant permission, Forja writes your workouts to the Health app and reads your weight and height to adjust its calculations. Apple manages that data: Forja does not send it to any server or use it for anything else.

The assistant, and artificial intelligence

Forja does not use any third-party AI service, and never sends your data to one. The suggestions the app shows are written by rules built into Forja itself. On devices that support it, Apple's on-device model (Foundation Models, part of Apple Intelligence) rephrases those suggestions so they read naturally. That model runs inside your iPhone or iPad: it is not a chatbot in the cloud, there is no external provider, and nothing you write or log is sent anywhere to produce a suggestion. On devices without that model, Forja uses its own rules and the app works the same.

Speaking to the coach. If you tap the microphone to ask the coach a question out loud, your voice is turned into text on your device, by the speech recognition built into iOS. The audio is not recorded, kept or sent anywhere, and if your device cannot recognize your language by itself, Forja tells you so instead of sending your voice to anyone. The answer can be read aloud by your device's own voice. Forja only uses the microphone while you are speaking to the coach.

Exercise videos

The exercise animations are drawn by the app itself. If you choose to download the real video clips, your device requests them from forja.sesinit.com, which is our own server. Those requests carry only what any web request carries, such as your IP address, and they are not used to build a profile or joined to anything you have logged. No personal data is uploaded.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. Forja never sees or stores payment details.

Children

Forja includes programmes designed for children from the age of 6, meant to be used with an adult present. No identifying information about a child is requested or collected, and no account is needed to use those programmes.

Your rights

You can export all of your data from Profile → Export backup, and delete everything from Profile → Delete my account and data. That deletes the copy in your iCloud account as well, not just the one on this device, and signs you out. For anything else, write to the address on the support page.
